My BIG Day!

Today I went to the "hospital" (surgery center) to have eye surgery. Mommy and Daddy talked to me about it before we went so I would be ready, but I didn't really understand. Here is what happened- When I got there, they had me put on a gown and some red socks. I did NOT want to wear that silly stuff, but quickly settled down and decided to do it. I got to bring my pacis, Mr. Blue, and Nemo with me :)

The doctor came in to mark my right eye to show that was the eye she would do the surgery on. I didn't even need medicine while I was with Mommy and Daddy to keep me calm because I was nice and relaxed. I walked on my own like a big boy to the OR holding the hand of my anesthesiologist. I think Mommy and Daddy were sad that they didn't really get a chance to say "goodbye" to me, but it probably made it easier for all of us.

When I woke up, I was REALLY mad! I kept trying to rip off my patch and rip out my IV and crying. Mommy and Daddy came in to calm me down, but it didn't work. I cried- A LOT! A little bit later, Mommy and Daddy decided I might do better at home, so we left. I fell asleep in the car (I never do that) and rested a bunch throughout the day. Here is a picture of me at home with my patch. Thank you all for your prayers for me! I'm doing great now :) Love- Nathan Thomas

A quick message... more to follow

Nathan Thomas did great today with his surgery! He was out and back in our arms by 8:15 this morning. We arrived home around 9:15. He's asleep in his crib. Will post more details later along with a couple of pics, but wanted to put a quick message on here for anyone who might check. Thank you all for your love and prayers!

FYI

Nathan has been cleared for surgery on Thursday. We will be arriving at 6 AM (that's the beauty of him being little, he's the first one of the day) at the surgery center. Surgery is scheduled for 7. They say it'll take about 30 minutes for the actual surgery, plus 10 minutes to put him out and 10 to wake him up. That will put us close to 8. From what we've been told, he might be ready to come home as soon as 10 or 11. Just thought I'd let everyone know.

By George, I think I've got it...

I have been calling everything I see blue for about a week now. Just these last few days, it seems I have learned blue, red, yellow, green, and orange. I'm a big boy now! Love-Nathan Thomas

Have I got a story for you!

Nathan's words: "Emmo, Emmo, Daddy, Daddy, up, up, up, eh (points to his arm), Mommy, cheeeee."

Mommy's translation: Daddy let Gizmo fly up in the air. He went on my arm. Mommy took a picture when I said, "Cheese".

Big Boy Hair

Nathan has had several hair cuts at the mall in the past, but tonight we decided to let Daddy give him his first hair cut at home. All he wanted to do was hold the trimmer and do it all by himself, but when offered candy, he decided to sit still and let Daddy do the work. This is the shortest his hair has ever been cut. He looks like such a big boy now. Good job, Daddy!

For Those Who Want To Know

The date of Nathan's surgery has been set for Thursday, January 29th, most likely quite early in the morning. We ask that you pray for the surgery to go well, to be successful, and for quick healing afterward. I imagine, in a way, that it will be harder on us than it will on him. We'll be sure to update his blog and let you know how it went (and hopefully add a picture or two). Thanks!

I stand corrected!

Nathan's new favorite presents are his vacuum from Auntie Beth and Uncle Steve and his Spiderman ride on toy from Great Aunt Rose. He'll make some girl very happy if he continues his love of cleaning and talking on the phone, and his mama really afraid if he continues being a daredevil.
